Lypressin is a hormone used to prevent or control the frequent urination, increased thirst, and loss of water associated with diabetes insipidus (water diabetes). Lypressin (Lysine Vasopressin) has the actions and uses of Vasopressin (Arginine Vasopressin) injection. In the treatment of diabetes insipidus, lypressin is administered in a nasal spray but its action is less prolonged than that of desmopressin.
Lypressin has been given by intramuscular injection to assess hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal function with conflicting results.
Uses: Central diabetes insipidus, polyuria, polydipsia.
