Eledoisin is a synthetic peptide originally found in the posterior salivary glands ofcertain small octopi (Eledone spp., Mollusca). It’s actions resemble those of Substance P; it is a potent vasodilator and increases capillary permeability. It hasbeen given as eye drops to stimulate lachrymal secretion in Sjogren’s syndrome and other dry eye conditions.
